David W. Brown, MD

Born and raised in California, Dr. Brown completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Colorado State University. He then came to Virginia with his wife Anne in 1975 to pursue his medical training at the University of Virginia. Following medical school and residency, Dr. Brown started his practice in Charlottesville, seeing a need for family centered care. His practice has grown over the years to include generations of families, providing him with the great pleasure of watching his patients grow from birth to adulthood with some even starting their own families. His practice has maintained the mission of attending to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of his patients in pursuit of optimal health.

Dr. Brown and his wife have 3 adult children. When not at the office, he enjoys fishing, hunting, and gardening. He has maintained a teaching position at the University of Virginia since graduation to assist with the outpatient training of medical students.


H. August Sanusi, MD

Dr. Sanusi was born in Surabaya, Indonesia. His parents emigrated to the United States in 1970. He grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. He attended Vanderbilt University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. He went to medical school at UVA, graduating in 1989. He then completed his residency training in the Department of Family Medicine at UVA.

Dr. Sanusi lives in Albemarle County with his wife, Martha, and their five children. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis, camping, photography, cheering on any number of Cavalier sports teams, and playing rousing games of Scattergories with his family.

Professionally, Dr. Sanusi enjoys caring for entire families with an emphasis on minor surgeries, pediatrics, preventative care and sports medicine.


Dr. Annika M. Abrahamson, MD

Born and raised in Missouri, Dr. Abrahamson attended the University Of Missouri School Of Medicine, graduating in 2001. Dr. Abrahamson completed her residency in Family Medicine at East Tennessee State University in 2004. Since that time she has been practicing at Albemarle Center for Family Medicine.

Dr. Abrahamson's clinical interests include Women's Health, caring for both the physical and emotional needs of women and their families.

When not practicing the art of medicine, Dr. Abrahamson enjoys spending time with her 3 fantastic children, running from the baseball field to play dates and everywhere in between. Dr. Abrahamson describes her children and family as the greatest blessings in her life!


Alison R. Baumann, FNP-C

Alison grew up in Virginia and graduated Longwood College with Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology. After working in pharmaceutical research and taking a few years off to take care for her small children, she went back to nursing school. She continued on her path to becoming a Nurse Practitioner and graduated from Old Dominion University with a Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner specialty. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Alison's interest include preventative medicine, women's health, and helping patients return to and/or maintain optimal health.

Alison and her husband Josh enjoy spending time with their three children, Ella, Lucy, and Henry. Outside of work, you are likely to catch her on ball fields, local pools, or shuttling kids from activities! She also enjoys running, cooking, and gardening.


Kathryn E. Hood, FNP-C

Katie was born in Johnson City, New York but relocated frequently for her parents’ careers so she has lived in many places across the East Coast and abroad. However, she has been in Charlottesville for four years and decided that this is the place that she is going to settle and make “home.” She received a BA in Biology and English from Wake Forest University. After working as an Administrator at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, she went back to school to obtain her BSN in Nursing. For several years, she worked as an inpatient RN on a general pediatrics and heme onc floor. In 2015, she graduated with her Master’s in Nursing from The University of Virginia and has been working for the past 2.5 years as an FNP seeing patients of all ages at a Family Practice. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, a Nursing honor society. Her particular interests are preventative health, anxiety/ depression, and women’s health.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two year old daughter, and two pups. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, going for walks, and spending time with friends.


Sherika A. Jones, FNP-C

Sherika was born in Virginia and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She received her Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner from Simmons College in Boston, MA. Sherika has experiences as a nurse practitioner hospitalist but decided to pursue her passion for family medicine. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her interests are preventative health, women’s health, and chronic disease management.

Sherika and her husband (Derrick) are both from Virginia and have been blessed with three amazing children- Hannah, Isaac, and Naomi. Her husband is a Registered Nurse and works locally in Charlottesville. They are both very excited to provide care in Charlottesville! In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, traveling, and attending church.



Our team also consists of dedicated nurses who have a combined 100+ years of experience!

Clinical specialties include Pediatrics, OB / GYN, Family Practice, Post-Operative Surgical Care and Cardiovascular Health.
